Growing marijuana plants also means having to deal with pests such as aphids which can be found in yellow, green, and red, brown or black it also means dealing with thrips, and white flies. These can be found in groups on plant leaves and while they can be removed by hand this often tedious and there are more effective measures. Thrips can be found bundled in leaves and buds, while white flies are known for laying their egg s on the underside of the cannabis leaves.
There are two real ways to handle and infestation, the first is to use one of the sprays available, this, the grower will need to be careful using, because of chemicals that can be taken in by the cannabis plants that will be smoked at a later time. Then there is a second method and while it might take a little longer, the result will be the pests are gone and the plants are chemical free. This is done by using dish washing liquid in water and then the leaves are wiped down with the soapy mixture. This should be done so that it will not drip into the soil and it should be left on the leave for approximately fifteen minutes and then washed thoroughly off of the plants. Not getting it all off of the plants or allowing it to drip into the soil could mean having a harvest that tastes like soap when smoked.
Marijuana plants that have been infested should be checked often and the soap and water treatment should be repeated about two days later to ensure all the pests are off of the plants.
