Nutrient Problems With The Crop
|
| |
There are some problems that can occur due to nutrient problems and these can harm the crop when the grower does not correct the problem with the correct nutrients.
- New Shoot Problems: When new shoots have unopened leaves, distorted, dead leaf tips, or are pale green, the plant is suffering from a copper deficiency. The plant with new shoots that are withered or dead, the stem or petiole collapse or the shoots are stunted, this is a calcium deficiency in the marijuana plant.
- Stunted Roots: The marijuana plant with stunted roots is a characteristic of several different problems, and it can be from calcium deficiency, copper toxicity or aluminum toxicity and in some strains it can be from a baron deficiency. Root stunting can appear as short roots that are thick and stubby, and that can be discolored, appearing brown or grey.
- Nitrogen Deficiencies: The plant that is suffering from a nitrogen deficiency will have slow growth, lack vigor, the older leaves will become yellow as they are lacking in chlorophyll and in some strains, there can even be a purple coloring.
- Nitrogen Toxicity: When plants are given to much nitrogen they can appear to have lush vegetation that will begin to dry and fall off of the pot plant. There will also be problems with the root system being under developed and there will also be deformed flowers.
- Phosphorus Deficiency: when the cannabis plant is suffering from a phosphorus deficiency the fan leaves can turn yellow, the leaves might turn brown or curl under and will die. There will be deformed buds and the plants can be stunted and have dark green or purple pigments in the older leaves or the stem.
- Potassium Deficiency: When a ganja plant is suffering from potassium deficiency the leaves can appear weak, the tips and margins will develop dead tissue and the stems and branches can be broken easily. The plant is also susceptible to disease or toxicity during this time and in some plants it can have the appearance of an iron deficiency.
- Chlorine Deficiency: The plant that is suffering from a chlorine deficiency will have leaves that have a bronze appearance and will become pale and wilted. The roots can also suffer on the ganja plant; they can become thick and stunted.
- Chlorine Toxicity: Marijuana plants suffering from chlorine toxicity will have burned leaf tips, yellowing and splitting leaves and they have also appeared bronze in color. The plants leaf size will be reduced and there will be a slowed growth rate.
- Boron Deficiency: Marijuana plants that are deficient in boron will appear to have easily broken irregular growth at shoot tips. The earliest symptoms that might be seen by the grower are leaf symptoms that can include drying, thickening, distorting, wilting, and spotting. There can also be a root tips that do not elongate, or root tips that become swollen and discolored. It is also possible that the internal tissues of the ganja plant can rot and this will make it possible to get a fungal disease.
- Boron Toxicity: What might be seen by the grower with baron toxcitiy can be leaf tips that yellow, and can progress to the margins of the leaves. The leaves will often die and fall off of the marijuana plant and there are some strains that are especially susceptible to baron buildup.
- Copper Deficiency: marijuana plants that have a deficiency in copper will have a stunted growth pattern that will include distortion of young leaves. The leaves on this plant can appear twisted and will be a dark green in color, and the leaves might die. This is also a deficiency that can cause the yield to be less than what the healthy plant is capable of producing.
- Copper Toxicity: Because there are only small amounts of copper that is needed in growing the cannabis plant it is possible for there to be an excess amount and this can become toxic in the plants. The symptoms the plant that has become toxic will show is stunting, reduced branching, and darkening of the roots, as well as thickening.
- Magnesium Deficiency: The marijuana plant that has a magnesium deficiency will have older leaves that will begin to have the appearance of yellow spots; this chlorosis will begin at a leave tip or in the margin and progress to the veins of the leave. The leaves can also turn upward and the tips might twist. There is a way to resolve this problem quickly, with the use of one gallon of water mixed with one tablespoon of Epsom salts.
- Manganese Deficiency: The manganese deficiency in ganja plants will show on the younger leaves with lesions and leaf shredding. In plants that have a higher toxicity level the plants can fail to mature, and the leaves will have a blotched appearance.
- Manganese Toxicity: Marijuana plants that are suffering from manganese toxicity will show with blotched leaves, the growth rate will slow and the vigor of the pot plant will decline.
- Iron Deficiency: The ganja plant that has an iron deficiency will have yellowing of the leaves and this will be between the veins and will begin with the lower and middle leaves.
- Iron Toxicity: While it is unusual for the cannabis plant to have iron levels high enough for toxicity, when it does occur it can cause a bronzing of the leaves or small brown spots on the leaves.
- Sodium: sodium is one of the things that marijuana plants need and will help the plant by acting as an antidote against toxic salts. This can also assist when there is a potassium deficiency, but at the same time sodium can reach toxic levels in the plant and cause deficiencies in other elements.
- Zinc Deficiency: The cannabis plant that has a zinc deficiency will have banding, it will have chlorosis in the vein areas and the leaf size can be shorter. In plants with a severe zinc deficiency, the fruit on the plants will die and the leaves can become tightly bunched.
- Zinc Toxicity: This is a large problem for the marijuana grower that has plants with zinc toxicity, this is something that can cause a fast death in the plant.
- Calcium Deficiency: When a cannabis plant is suffering from calcium deficiency it will affect the younger smaller leaves first, by distorting them, and they will have spotted areas. There can also be the appearance of crinkling, or dwarfing and the shoots will stop growing and will thicken.
- Calcium Toxicity: This is one of the marijuana toxicity problems that is hard to distinguish, because it can appear with the same symptoms as deficiencies in either magnesium or potassium
.
- Sulphur Deficiency: The signs of the cannabis plant with sulphur deficiency can cause the plants to have a woody stem and can turn the leaves yellow including the vein. The yellowing leaves will begin with the younger leaves and the fruit. The roots can become elongated and the stems can take on a purple hue that can travel the length of the ste
m.
- Sulphur Toxicity: When a marijuana plant is suffering from sulphur toxicity it will have leave size that will be stunted and the leaves will appear to have either yellow or scorched leave edges.
