In order to take a cutting from the mother plant several things will be needed, the grower will need a clean razor blade or razor knife, they will need a water mister, planting medium, rooting hormone that could be either power or gel, and a tray or container with a plastic lid.

Among the things that an experienced grower knows is that's when a cutting is taken from above a node on the branch the mother plant will then sprout two new branches in its place and that can provide a cannabis grower with an unlimited supply of clones.  The branch that will be used for taking a cutting from should have shoots that have to three nodes and when the cutting is taking it should be between at least two to four inches long, or they can be as long as eight inches.

This cannabis cutting should then have the stem cut diagonally and then it should be dipped into water if using rooting hormone powder so that it will adhere to the stem, and if using gel rooting hormone it can be dipped in. The next step for the grower is to place the marijuana cutting in prepared soil; this is done by using sterilized soil, watering it until moist, using fertilizer and making a hole in the soil with a finger or nails the length of the stem. When the cutting is ready the marijuana clone can be placed soil into dirt can be placed around to hold plant in place until it is able to grow roots.
